This year is my second year of specialisation in ceramics at the academy. My first year of specialisation at the academy was in 2023-2024. In the meantime, I have been steadily working on my art school project and have also created a few functional ceramic objects. Now the time has come to return to my project, ‘Symbiosis of Symbionts’.

Symbiosis of symbionts

I look up at the sky

and see, above all, distance.

I look up at the sky

and see, above all, distance.

But perhaps nothing is truly alone.

Perhaps we are all symbionts, extraterrestrial objects,

temporary encounters of matter, energy and life.

Connected to the planet that sustains us,

to the air we breathe,

to the water that flows through us,

to the countless life forms that came before us

and those that will come after us.

My ceramic forms have emerged from questions.

Questions without definitive answers.

Where do we come from?

What is our place in this immeasurable universe?

Clay teaches me that everything changes.

That which is soft becomes hard.

That which takes shape will one day disappear again.

And yet something always remains:

a trace, a memory, a connection.

Perhaps that is the essence of the symbiosis of symbiotes:

not separate existence,

but co-existence.

We are part of something infinitely vast.

I look up at the sky

and see, above all, distance.

I look at a stone

and see separate forms.

But perhaps nothing is truly alone.

Perhaps we are all symbionts, extraterrestrial objects,

temporary encounters of matter, energy and life.

Connected to the planet that sustains us,

to the air we breathe,

to the water that flows through us,

to the countless life forms that came before us

and those that will come after us.

We are part of something infinitely vast.

And perhaps that is more than enough.
